Michelle and I have been friends since we met in college ten years ago. {eek - we're getting old!} We've been sorority sisters and roomates and have taken countless roadtrips & vacations together. She's one of my closest friends and I was so excited to plan her baby shower. This will be Michelle and her husband Frank's first child - a boy they're naming Tyler. We're all so excited to meet the little guy!
I chose a jungle theme for Baby Tyler's big bash and I think it turned out really cute.

Because I am totally insane, I decided to make all the food for the party myself rather than get it catered. For 40 people. I was probably the only one who didn't realize the inherent lunacy in this plan. I started cooking when I got home from work on Friday and quickly realized I had hours of cooking to do. So, I called in reinforcements. {I'm pretty sure my sister anticipated my panic and was waiting by the phone for my inevitable call for help.} Luckily, my sister and friend Katie agreed to come over and help me cook & put together the favors.
We took a break from bagging favors to make a little midnight snack...
Yep, smores. On my gas stove.
I think the jolt of sugar helped keep me awake until I finished cooking at 3am. Some of the smores did actually make it into the favor bags.
{forgive the tacky handwritten tags. My etsy seller flaked out on me and never got me the tags I ordered.}
The little animals are made from sugar. How cute are they? I found them online and had to have them.
but most of the time was spent opening up all this loot!
Who knew tiny babies need so much stuff?!?
As far as parties without booze go, I'd say this was a good one!
*Thanks to my talented friend Jenny for sending me some great pictures. Check out her blog at Jenny Ann Photography. (Only some of the pictures in this post were taken by Jenny. The crappy point and shoot pictures are all me.)

Wow, what a fantastic shower! You are my hero! How you made food for FORTY in one evening just astounds me. Looks like you all had a great time. :)
Wow, kudos to you for cooking all of that food! It looks like it was catered :-) The jungle idea is adorable! I'm sure your friend loved it.
Cutest shower ever! Great job!

aww, what a sweet post! Its so wonderful that you guys have this special friendship, and such a special time in your lives. And, love these pics!! xoxo LA
Your smores are darling! I did one shower favor that were "cinnamon bun in the oven" scones. After making over 40 of those things, I never wanted to see a scone again! Unfortunately, they were a huge hit, and are frequently requested.
So cute! I love all the decorations!
Love it! That is an awesome party you threw and you made me LOL with that " as far as parties without booze go" ha I TOTALLY hear that!
So cute! I love the smores (on the gas stove!). I totally would do that (and maybe now will have to tonight!). :)
Wow, great job! But, seriously all the girls in the top photo look alike to me:) Are you on the very top, far right?
Wow what a fabulous shower! I love the theme! What a beautiful picture of all you girls :)
Mel, I'm am OBSESSED with this baby shower. Like over the top, in a not-healthy-for-me way. I LOVE it. I'm in the process of making myself a craft room and I'm doing a zebra rug with black, brown, green and orange accents, so I love this theme. The whole shower is so amazing!! I must host a baby shower immediately so I can totally copy you!! :)
Hi sweetie! Love your blog too! When I read welcome to the jungle I couldnt help of think of Adpi rush! haha. Did you all use this theme too? We did for opening day and I can't hear that song without feeling like I am back in the adpi house smiling nonstop. Haha. Glad we are bloggy friends now!
