life gets in the way

Has it really been six days since my last post?  Crap.  Sorry about that.  Well, I can't let an entire week go by without a new post, so here I am.

What have I been up to this week?  Work.  Lots of it. But that's boring, so let's not talk about that.

What else?  Let's see...I joined Twitter.  Still not sure what all the crazy symbols are about and I haven't figured out how to post pictures and links.  Anyone want to give me a "Twitter for Dummies" tutorial?  No? Want to follow me on Twitter?  I put a little linky-do on my page just for you!

I also signed up for Goodreads.  Goodreads is a website where you can track and rate what you have read, see what other people have read, and get good book recommendations.  I have marked 14 books as "to read."  So, I'm going to go read 14 books and I'll be back next spring.  Ha!  I wish.  I have no idea how you find people on Goodreads but if you're on there I'd love to see what you're reading. Oh, I know my sidebar says I'm still reading The Help.  Yeah....I finished that at least a week ago. AMAZING, by the way.  I've moved on to a David Baldacci book I can't remember the name of...  If you're just dying to know, you can find out on Goodreads.  Don't all run over there at once now.  :)

Oh, I also "ran" my first 5k.  This is not a case of Unnecessary Quotation Marks.  There wasn't all that much running going on.  Guess that's what happens when you go for cocktails before the race.  {There were post-race cocktails too, but that's neither here nor there.}  After my first 5k experience, I just have to ask - WHY?  What is it that so many people enjoy about getting together with 12,000 of their closest friends and running around town?  Needless to say, I did not catch the running bug.  Guess it's just not my thing.

also by pools, on golf courses and in hammocks

Wish I had time to tell you about last night -Eddie Money in concert - but I don't have time to do it justice.  We'll just sum it with  this: Dirty old man.  He referenced the '70's as "three rehabs ago" and thanked his parole officer.  I wish I was joking.  But that didn't stop us from singing along with "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Two Tickets to Paradise."  A good time was had by all.

Now I've got to run because it's a gorgeous day outside and the pool is calling my name.  Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Congrats on running your first 5K! Even though you didn't catch the running bug, you still did it :-) More than I can say for myself lol.

Enjoy your day by the pool! I wish it was pool weather here ;-)

You should friend me on goodreads! My username is Duoly Noted.

Top Junkie did a great series on twitter awhile back that I thought was helpful when I first joined (ignore the parts about "building a brand" if you are just doing it for fun)

Part 1: http://www.tipjunkie.com/2009/04/how-to-twitter-part-1.html

Part 2: http://www.tipjunkie.com/2009/04/how-to-build-your-twitter-audience-part-2.html

Part 3: (there is a part 3 too but for some reason it wont load for me).

Congratulations on running the 5k! I keep trying to find motivation to get back into running (used to run 5 miles a day, on average), but I can't seem to get a jumpstart. Even when I ran alot I never got the "runner's high" that everyone raves about, so you're not alone on that front!

Yay! Congrats on the 5k. I really need to get motivated and sign up for a few races this fall. Total slacker right here. And that concert sounds hilarious! Can't wait to hear more about it!
