Have you noticed most people don't read blogs on Fridays? I've found that of all the posts I write, those posted on Fridays tend to receive the least comments by far. Apparently we're all too busy making weekend plans to catch up on blogs.
Knowing all this, I'm really not motivated to come up with anything particularly witty or deep to share with you today. I think I'll just phone this one in. {I wish I were kidding.}
For the two of your reading, I hope you don't mind if I do this one stream of consciousness style. I'm too tired for transitions between thoughts.
The Mister and I are having 25 people over for a 4th of July BBQ on Sunday. We decided this today. Eeek. The house is a bit of a mess, the fridge is bare and I haven't yet figured out what the menu for 25 will be. Oh well. I've got two days. And if all else fails, there's always plan B: give people enough margaritas and sangria and they won't realize your house is a mess and that you haven't fed them anything. Don't believe me? Try it.
I am loving the new show on ABC called Boston Med. The show is essentially a documentary that follows actual doctors, nurses and patients at two Boston hospitals. I could watch this show for hours. I just find their lives so fascinating. Sometimes I wish I had gone to med school instead of law school. And then I remember that I can't function without sleep. I'd be the crankiest doctor EVER.
It seems my "Seriously celebrities?" post came a day too soon. Today's celebrity "WTF?" is a doozie. Kate Gosselin wants to release a Christmas album of religious songs sung by herself and her children. Like the dancing wasn't bad enough. If she wants to ruin Christmas, why doesn't she just tell her kids there's no Santa Claus?
Hubs and I bought new ceiling fans for our bedroom and living room. The box says they're "Five Minute Fans" and easily installed, so we took a shot at it. Massive fail. We couldn't even get the old fans down. The electrician will be out next week.
On a related note, for you long time readers - the infamous mirror is STILL on my bedroom floor. We're going on a year here people. God I'm ashamed to even admit that... I NEED A HANDYPERSON. Man. Woman. Transgender with picture hanging ability. I don't care. I just need someone who's not on the sexual predator list to come to my house and properly install a 75 pound mirror on my wall. Is that too much to ask?
I got a new color on my nails last time I went to get a mani/pedi and I'm loving it. It's OPI's My Chihuahua Bites. Stupid name. Fun color.
The library delivered The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo today! I'm so excited I'm thinking about putting aside the book I just started to read it.
Wow, that was all over the place. If you hung in there for all that randomness on a Friday, you're probably related to me.
Hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing and safe 4th of July weekend!
*10 points and my respect to anyone who can correctly identify the source of today's blog post title. {J & J, only 1 point for you. It's way too easy.}

Seriously Kate?!? Who would want to buy your Christmas album?
OK, Kate, really?!?!? wth? Also, the mirror-srsly, you do need a handy man! stat!
Oh, Kate... really?
Oh Mel...that's is such an easy one. The correct answer is The West Wing. If I add that the episode is from season 1 do I get 2 points?
(I would also like to add to Brother...haha, I win.)
Kate needs to get over herself! Her fifteen minutes was over forever ago.
I always read on fridays Mel, Its still a day at the office ;) I liked the randomness of your post today ! Excited for this weekend...
I got that polish color last week and bought it i liked it so much! Also that is the name of one of my fav blogs! ha
Good luck with the cookout. That is quite ambitious of you at such a late hour but I honestly doubt anyone will notice your house. Having people over is a great way to make yourself clean though - at least it always works for me.
I really liked BostonMed too. Do you read Sara's blog, Southern Comfort? Her sister, Rachael, is one of the residents going to be featured on the show! I think Sara said she'll be on the 5th and 6th episodes. How exciting!
Have a great weekend and have fun at your cookout!!
That is some seriously scary news about Kate G! I was flipping channels last night and watched a bit of Boston Med and my oldest was totally grossed out when they were showing the heart surgery on the baby. So much for him becoming a Dr! :) Have a wonderful weekend.
You are so right about less comments on Friday! I watched Boston Med too, I cried multiple times, that show is exhausting to watch, I can't even imagine being a Dr!
Have a great long weekend!
I read every day. I just don't post every day. I hate having to be anonymous. - LK
Oh, Kate. Why? I mean, good for her earning money to support her obscene amount of children, but I wish she would find a less annoying way to do so.
And yay, West Wing! The husband and I watched the entire series over about 4 months last year, and I was so sad when it was over. Is is too early to watch it again, do you think?
Oh Mels, even I knew that was WW. Next time we are in town, Daddy will put up your mirror. Mom
Ha ha have fun this weekend!
You are too funny...I'm reading your blog, and it's Friday NIGHT! Glad you are really enjoying Boston Med - my sister is going to be one of the doctors featured! We think she will be on the 5th and 6th shows, which is sometime around July 22nd.
Hope you all have a wonderful party!
This post made me giggle. :-) I too love the "ply people with margaritas to distract them from mess/lack of food" trick. Works every time!
I am also so in awe of you for inviting 25 people over to your home. I had 10 people here once and I almost died from the anxiety. I didn't die though (obvs) - margaritas saved the day!
I can't believe I've missed this Boston Med show. Definitely need to check it out.
And finally - I hope you love Dragon Tattoo!! It is really really good, but I thought the first 60-100 pages were ridiculously slow and boring. So if you are bored at first, stick with it - it gets waaaaaay better!
My hubby and I were just having this conversation..we need a handyman!!! We are trying to get our house in order before the baby comes and every project we have-hanging light fixtures, expanding closets, sealing the porch- takes TOO much time!!
You will love The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! It's amazing! And the next two books are just as good. Love them. Lizbeth Salinger is my new girl crush.
Don't feel bad. We didn't start cleaning for our 40 person toddler bday party until the night before. HA!
