help an old lady out

I'm not getting any younger.

And I have no interest in looking like this one day:

My current moisturizer {Cetaphil} just isn't cutting the mustard anymore. Problem number one - it's only SPF 15.  I live in Florida. I'm guessing something like SPF 612 is better suited to making sure my skin doesn't melt off.  Problem number two - lately, my skin has been burning after I put it on.  Surely, that's a bad sign.  {And in retrospect, should probably be problem numero uno.}

Can someone recommend a good moisturizer with sunblock?  Preferably something with "anti-aging," "fights wrinkles" or "skin like a toddler" in the title?  And if it costs less than my mortgage, that's a plus too.

Thanks loves!

I love the Korres line - it's pricey...BUT a few friends have commented on how fab my eyes look (keep in mind I live in botox city) so I can't stop using the Korres....I blame them.

My skin is so dry I use La Mer...probably too heavy for you..I've tried everything and some of my favs are Chanel Hydramax, Clinique Repairwear, Origins a Perfect World, and Philosophy Hope in a Jar....I hope one of these work for you, but I know everyone's skin is different. Good luck!

I use Bobbi brown and really like it. I had the same problem beforehand. Not sure she makes one with SPF tho?

I love Clinique Super Defense. It is an SPF 25, and goes on so smooth. It really feels amazing. I have been using it for years. The best part is it comes in a couple of different formulas: very dry to dry, dry combination and oily to very oily. So whatever your skin type there is one that works for you.

If you have a Nordstrom close to you go to their clinique counter and they will give you a sample, well really Nordstrom costmetics will give you a sample of anything so you could try a couple different ones.

Ohhh, you read my mind with this post! I'm a cetaphil girl too and at the ripe age of 28, I'm thinking I need something a little more substantial.

Seconding Philosophy Hope in a Jar. I've used it in the past and it's pretty good stuff. I think it's around $38/jar. Not sure about the spf though...

I use two different moisturizers - depending on time of year or day or mood. Ha!

1. Dermaolgica Dynamic Skin Recovery has SPF 30 and is anti-aging. (More expensive)

2. Olay Total Effects - It's cheaper and I buy a huge bottle at Costco. Has SPF 15 only though. But when I used it regularly, I got lots of compliments on my glowing skin.

Good luck!

I just started using Garnier Anti Sun Damage SPF 20. I use that during the day and plain old Ponds Dry Skin cream at night.

I think I am liking the results so far.

I have tried everything, from la mer to johnson and johnson baby stuff-just recently I started using Clinique and it has changed my skin! Who Would have thought!!???!

Im using this "Moisture Surge" with the "City Block sheer in SPF 25" my skin is supersensitive, and with this stuff my skin has never looked better!

I love Clinique Super Defense! And I am totally considering buying some Preparation H to put around my eyes as a preventative measure.

I would recommend using an oil-free moisturizer and then using an oil-free foundation with SPF!

Hi Mel,

I'm a HUGE fan of CeraVe AM...

It has a broad spectrum sunscreen UVA/UVB) of 30 which should really be your minimum daily sunscreen. It also has niacinamide (reduces redness)and hyaluronic acid in it (which repairs skin and also keeps your face from "drying" out all day long).

You can get it basically anywhere (Target, CVS/Walgreens, etc.) and it's not super expensive (less than $15.

I like Cetaphil, but it does have some alcohol in it, so it can sometimes be drying and irritating...especially the ones with a sunscreen in it too.

P.S. I'm a Derm Nurse Practitioner ;o)

I love your blog! New follower here! Hope you don't mind me adding you to my blog list! I use the oil-free moisturizer by Neutrogena. It has an SPF of 15 and on the back it says it's good if you want softer, smoother, younger looking skin. I love it! Works great!
