This weekend we had a little fiesta at the house with our friends and family for my 30th birthday. I always assumed I'd spend my 30th birthday drowning my sorrows about getting older in a whole lotta cocktails. Well, sometimes life turns out differently than you thought it might.
This was by far the best birthday I've ever had. On Thursday, March 24th, I turned 30. But that was the last thing on my mind when I woke up that morning. It was also the day we found out our little one was a girl! I was on cloud nine all day. The timing worked out perfectly and we decided to announce Baby B's gender to our friends at the party.
Even though I couldn't share in the cocktails on my birthday, I wanted to make sure everyone had delicious drinks to enjoy. Here's the drink table, with margaritas, sangria, virgin sangria for the preggos (which was delish!), Mexican beer and Jarritos.
We set up tables in the yard and I used paper flowers as centerpieces. I found the inspiration and the tutorial for the flowers, which are made from paper napkins, here.
It was a little breezy so my mom came up with the idea to weight them with limes. Didn't it turn out cute?
We had chicken & beef tacos with all the fixins catered by a local Mexican restaurant, plus chips, guacamole, queso, Mexican Caesar Salad and churros.
And of course there was cake! My sweet family ordered this cake with my baby picture on it. Wonder if our little girl will look anything like I did as a baby?
...And this is what happens when you give your guests tequila then leave the cake and mustache stickers unattended.
To announce our big news about Baby Girl B, we filled a pinata with pink candy and Brian broke it open in front of everyone.
(Only because I love all of you so much did I post this completely unflattering picture of B and me. I'm a mile wide and we have 5 chins between the two of us.)
When the pink candy hit the ground everyone started hollering "It's a girl!" It turned out to be a really fun way to share the news.
It was such a fun day with family and friends and I didn't spend one second feeling sad about getting older. I am so excited about what's in store for my 30th year.
