Weekend Update

It was a great, low-key weekend for this lazy preggers and her equally lazy husband. Sure we have LOTS to do to get ready for Baby B (including decide on a middle name for the poor girl so I can share her name with you guys) but instead we did quite a bit of eating, tv watching and lounging. It was heavenly.

Friday night, I broke my long-standing rule and went with Brian to Super Target. Nothing against my ever-so-sweet husband, but shopping the Super T is an activity I typically prefer to enjoy sans his company.  Unless it's the rare, rushed trip where I need to grab one item and go, I prefer to savor my Target shopping experience. I like to get a drink at Starbucks then slowly make my way through the store, browsing the "fun departments," even if nothing is technically needed. I like to peruse the earrings, scope out the clothes, magazines and DVDs, and now, make a trip through the section of things for small people. Brian, on the other hand, likes to make a list and head directly for the items on said list. No iced lattes, no browsing. No bueno.  Anyway, Friday night I made an exception and we went together to Super Target for some boring necessities. We didn't do much browsing but there was some unnecessary lingering in the flower section (they had peonies!) so the trip wasn't a total loss. We picked up a pizza for dinner and watched some DVR'd shows.  I was fast asleep on the couch by 9:30pm. Yes, I am super exciting. Try not to covet my glamourous life.

Saturday - more rule breaking! B and I went to the mall. Together. For the above stated browser v. list-maker reasons, this is something we almost never do. I am just not one of those girls who enjoys the company of her husband at the mall. Or really, the company of almost anyone while I'm shopping. With the exception of my sister and my parents, I shop best alone. (My dad is actually a great shopping companion. He'll help pick things out and will wait patiently while my mom, sister and I try things on. And he always offers to pay and carry bags. My dad is the best.)

Anyway, Brian and I went to the mall and it was a very successful, albeit short, trip. After months of looking, I finally found a chair for an empty nook in our living room at Z Gallerie. We ordered that, then headed for Baby Gap. I had a 40% off coupon that was burning a hole in my pocket. We found a bunch of adorable things for little B. Let me tell you, baby jeans might be the cutest little things I've ever seen. We picked her up a pair for winter, plus some comfy sleepers and a few adorable dresses. And a little knit hat. Oh my goodness, the cuteness of the tiny hats. (And then I went home and placed another order online. Have I mentioned my serious weakness for baby girl clothes?)

Saturday night, we tried a realtively new New Orleans style restaurant called Tibby's. We had to try the fried pickles, of course.  Pregnant or not, these were so tasty. The po boys were good too. We went home and knocked more shows off the DVR. Parks & Recreation was hilarious this week, as usual. Community's second annual paint ball season finale was awesome too.

Sunday we had brunch/lunch at an awesome new mexican restaurant for my sister's birthday. Because I'm a total failure of a blogger and a sister, I took no pictures of the food or lunch company. We'll definitely be going back to Cocina 214. Hopefully next time there will be pictures.

After brunch, we had some time to kill before our movie, so we took a stroll down Park Ave, a local street with great restaurants and shopping. We ended up back at another Baby Gap (seriously) and walked out with another bag. If their stock didn't open up this morning, it wasn't for my lack of trying. We saw Bridesmaids and it was hilarious! Tons of hilarious moments. (Though, if you ask me, it could have been twenty minutes shorter. It was 2+ hours long and didn't need to be.)

After the movie, we took another unheard of joint shopping trip, this time to the grocery store. It must been some lucky twist of fate that B came with me to the store, because I nearly cried in Publix. In a rare appearance of pregnancy hormones, the insane Sunday crowds and store being out of a needed ingredient really got to me. Luckily, B calmed me down before I turned into the cliched pregnant lady, crying in front the deli meats.  I poured myself a glass of non-alcholic wine when we got home and it almost did the trick. Not as good as the real thing but better than nothing.

I made a mud pie for my sister's birthday and watched the Survivor finale and that was the rest of Sunday. In all, it was a rather uneventful yet wonderful weekend.

(Sorry for the long-winded, picture-light post.)

Glad to hear there are other woman out there who prefer to shop sans husband. I hate shopping with Dan, he ruins the experience. For example, I made the mistake of going to homegoods with him this weekend and he was like "we don't need that" and I put back all my stuff in guilt INCLUDING AN ONION CHOPPER which I regreted that very night while chopping onions for enchiladas. Had I gone by myself, that chopper would have been mine!

Oh my gosh, wasn't Bridesmaids hilarious?! I didn't think it was going to be that funny, but my gosh, I died--hilarious!

Baby Gap is evil. I don't even have kids and I cannot go in there. I will drop my paycheck on stuff just you know, because one day I'll have kids and well, my friend is pregnant and she needs this for her baby and oh my gosh, my nephew needs this and THEN--then, I'm broke. Sigh. But, such cute stuff!

Haha I am a solo shopper too!! Even with friends, I prefer to shop by my self. I like to go slow, feel fabrics, try things on, buy things I don't need.

Sounds like a fun weekend! I love Parks and Rec as well, I always literally laugh out loud! Bridesmaids was pretty hiliarious as well but I agree, it could have been shorter!

Sounds like a great weekend! Food and shopping are a hallmark of good weekends for me. You and your husband have the exact same Target shopping habits as my husband and I. I hate when he comes with me-- he ruins all the fun!

Can't wait to hear a name. I wasn't sure if you were going to announce it, so I'm super excited that you may, indeed, be.

I think we lived the same life this weekend. Asleep by 9:30pm on Friday night? Check. Trip to the movies to see Bridesmaids? Check. Not a fan of shopping with the husband (usually)? Check, check, check!

Happy Monday!

I am the exact same way with trips to Target! I love to just take my time but the husband just doesn't get it. It sounds like you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. I can't wait to learn baby B's name!!!!

You perfectly described my husband and I at Target, too! I found a trick though...buy him popcorn and a drink for $1 and he will be more than happy to let you browse! :)

I love how you describe your Target trip. SO TRUE!! I don't know how men can just get in and out of that place without browsing for a bit. It's just so necessary!

Perhaps a little shot of Snake Juice would make your hubby more fun to shop with :) (Love Parks and Rec too!) Sounds like a nice weekend. Resistance is futile when dealing with baby girl clothes!!

I do NOT share my Target trips either. Though, Z likes to come and supervise. Aka, keep me from blowing an entire paycheck when I only really needed face wash and toothpaste.
