emmy thoughts from a tv junkie

I look forward to writing my Emmy post every year. (Okay, the two years I've had this blog.) I usually make my predictions before the big show, then do a wrap up post after the show with highlights on fashion and the winners and losers. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to do a prediction post this year but I did watch the show and decided to share my thoughts. Aren't you lucky? (Don't answer that.)  Sorry there are no pictures this year. I'm doing this one on the fly.

As for fashion, Lea Michele looked gorgeous, as always. I loved the sleeve detail and low back of her gorgeous red dress. And she is working those bangs. Kate Winslet was another lady in red. She and her boobs looked fantastic. Amy Pohler - love her, not the dress. Gwyneth Paltrow, what were you thinking?!?! You are a grown woman with children. I do not need to see your belly. I don't care if bare midriffs have been all over the runways. It's just not right. Sophia Vergara looked amaze-balls but I'm sure she could make a best dressed list in a paper bag. And Rob Lowe - holy smokes, can that man wear a tux.

My thoughts on the opening number? To quote Randy from American Idol, "It was just a'ight for me dog."

Wilmer Valderama was there. For a minute, I thought it was 2001.

Tina Fey had a baby one month ago and looked absolutely fantastic. I adore her but seeing her look so great so soon after giving birth made me want to smack her just a little.

A few thoughts on winners and losers: Love the love for Modern Family. Such a great show. I have no idea how they decided which of the four male actors to give it to. I probably would have gone with Cam again because he kills me. But Phil Dunphy is a hoot. I'm also glad Jim Parsons won for the second straight year as Sheldon on Big Bang Theory. That character is genius. (Literally.) Yay for Coach Taylor! I'm just sad Tammy didn't win too. Connie Britton is so beautiful. I wish I could scalp her and wear her hair as a wig. (Too much? Yeah, I think so.) I'm very disappointed Mad Men won AGAIN. Am I the only person who finds that show mind numbingly boring?  I want to slit my wrists when I watch, just so I'll have something to do. And that's really saying something for a show with Jon Hamm's gorgeous face.

Favorite moments of the night - The presentation of the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. What a hilarious group of women. I was pulling for Amy Pohler or Tina Fey but I was really happy to see Melissa McCarthy win. She's hilarious in Mike & Molly and it was well deserved. (Does anyone else watch that show? It totally cracks me up.) The Modern Family acceptance speech for Best Comedy series was great. Sophia Vergara & Rob Lowe presenting together was the most beautiful 30 seconds of television I've ever seen.

And the best line of the night was delivered by Jane Lynch: "A lot of people are curious why I'm a lesbian. Ladies and gentlemen, the cast of Entourage."

Did you watch the Emmy Awards? What did you think?

Agreed on Mad Men. I tried to watch that show and found myself bored to tears. I was pulling for Dexter or Friday Night Lights.

I'm hoping that next year will be Parks & Recs year. It's a great show that deserves recognition. Speaking of recognition, I'm glad that FNL finally got some. It was a great show. Coach Taylor is totally my homeboy.

I judge people who watch Entourage. In my opinion you are just as douchey as the guys on the show if you watch that junk.

I thought Steve Carrell would beat Jim Parsons. Not that he deserved it so much this year, but I thought that after 6 years on The Office they'd finally recognize him.

RON SWANSON IN 2012!!

I'm so disappointed "The MIddle" is never nominated for anything, it's one of my absolute favorite shoes and never gets any recognition.

I watch Mike and Molly also and love that Melissa won - I remember her from back in the Gilmore GIrls days too, she's adorable!

I didn't get a chance to watch, but that Jane Lynch comment made iced tea come out of my nose this morning. I may youtube it just to see the guys' reactions to that!!

I didn't get to watch the whole time but the funny ladies on the stage for best comedic actress was really genius. Those ladies are SO AMAZING.

I didn't get to watch much of it but TOTALLY have to agree that the best line of the night was: Jane Lynch: "A lot of people are curious why I'm a lesbian. Ladies and gentlemen, the cast of Entourage." Totally lost it! It was great! :)

I watched most of it. Totally agree on what Gwyneth was wearing. I covet Sophia Vergara's body, hair, everything! And I was happy Melissa McCarthy won even though I love Tina Fey and Amy P. Did you see Jen Lancaster's Twitter post about MM? It was so fantastic I had to retweet it.

Love this post. I only saw a little bit of it but agree with you on everything! Only watched M&M once but thought it was funny. Loved her on Gilmore Girls...right? Wasn't she on that show? And she's Jenny McCarthy's cousin. Adorable and hilarious family!
